Every product page in 2026 says "AI-powered". The phrase has done so much heavy lifting it has stopped lifting anything at all. Buyers see it, scroll past it, and start asking the questions that actually matter. There are three of them, and the gap between answering them well and answering them badly is the gap between landing the deal and not.

The phrase made sense in 2023, when bolting any LLM onto a product was a differentiator. By 2026 it is everywhere, which means it differentiates nothing. A buyer comparing three vendors that all say "AI-powered" has to read the next paragraph anyway. So the headline is doing zero work.
Worse, "AI-powered" is the kind of phrase that gets written when nobody on the team has done the harder thinking about what specifically the AI does and why anyone should trust it. Engineering teams pattern-match on this very quickly. If the product page is AI-powered shaped, the assumption is the team has not worked out the rest. The buyer moves on.
The fix is not better AI marketing copy. The fix is to lead with what the AI actually does for the user, in language the buyer's engineers will trust on first read.
Question 1: where does the answer come from?
Engineering buyers ask this first because they have been burnt by hallucination. They want to know: when the model produces an answer, can the answer be traced back to a specific source the team controls? Or is it produced from the model's training data, which may have been correct in 2023 and irrelevant since?
The strongest possible position here is retrieval-grounded answers with citations. Every claim the model makes is backed by a piece of source material that the team can inspect. Vendors that ship this win procurement conversations against vendors that do not. Vendors that wave the question away with "we use a frontier model" lose them.

Question 2: what happens when the model is wrong?
The second question buyers ask is the one most product pages skip. Models are wrong some of the time. The interesting question is what the product does when that happens.
Bad answers include "the model is very accurate" (claim, no measurement), "we use the latest model" (irrelevant), and "you can always edit the output" (the user has to spot the error first).
Good answers look like a confidence score on every output, a verifier that catches contradictions before they reach the user, and a flag that says "I am not sure about this part" rather than confidently fabricating. Defence-in-depth: not one safety net, but layered ones, each catching different failure modes.
Buyers do not need the product to be perfect. They need to know what happens when it is not. Products that name their failure modes and ship guards against them earn trust faster than products that pretend the failure modes do not exist.
Question 3: does my data leave the building?
The third question closes deals, especially in the UK. Compliance, IP, and procurement all converge here. The buyer wants to know: when I send my data through this product, where does it go, who else can see it, and where does it sit at rest?
The strongest possible answer is sovereign infrastructure. The model runs on hardware the customer controls, or on hardware the vendor controls in a known jurisdiction, with no telemetry and no third-party API hop. The data stays inside the boundary. The audit log shows every read.
A weaker answer is "we use a major cloud provider in the EU". Acceptable for some buyers, a non-starter for compliance-led ones. The weakest is "your data may be sent to a US-based AI provider as part of normal operation" buried in a sub-clause of the privacy policy. Even if it is true and necessary, leading with it costs deals.

It is not the right answer for every product, but it is the right answer for any buyer where data sovereignty is on the procurement checklist. The lesson is more general than the hardware: pick a sovereignty story, name it on the product page, and back it up in the architecture.
What buyers see that you might be missing
A useful exercise. Open your own product page. Highlight every sentence containing "AI-powered", "intelligent", "smart", or "advanced". Ask whether any of those sentences answer one of the three questions above. If not, those sentences are doing zero buyer-side work.
The replacement is not more adjectives. The replacement is plain answers to the three questions, on the page, before the buyer has to ask:
- Where the answer comes from (retrieval source, training-only source, hybrid).
- What happens when the model is wrong (confidence scoring, citation verification, escalation).
- Where the data goes (sovereign infrastructure, regions, telemetry policy).
A page that leads with those three answers will out-convert a page that leads with "AI-powered" every time. The buyer was going to find out anyway. Putting it on the page first shows the team has done the thinking.
